"We recently did a survey asking participants if the event was still relevant to them and overwhelmingly the response was yes," said Mulvale, a co-founder of the event. "People of all faiths, and people journeying with a belief in a higher power believe that prayer has a role... we just bring people together and they take that time to reflect and grow together as a community." Modelled after a similar event in Ottawa, the breakfast will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5. Aside from a hot buffet breakfast, it will include several prayers, music by Oakville soprano Catherine ArcandPinette and speaker Judy Maddren, a long-standing radio broadcast host and co-founder of the company Soundportraits. "She has been witness to many remarkable life stories viewed through the lens of faith... as a cradle Anglican, as a clergy-spouse with four children and as someone trying to live Christian values," said Mulvale. "I keep telling everyone to come see the face behind the voice." "People come, they may be committed to a church tradition and attend, or they may be people seeking some relevance in their life. So it's an opportunity to hear from a speaker who gives some insight into their journey and their faith journey," Mulvale said. Everyone is welcome to attend. "I tell people to come because whether or not you agree with everything being said, you'll probably find one or two comments that really resonate with you," said Mulvale. "I see so many similarities in the world religions and I've brought people of differing faiths and they have appreciated the opportunity (to attend)." Organizers expect upwards of 500 participants at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd. "Firstly, they'll have a warm welcome, and secondly, we believe we'll not only feed their bodies, but we'll feed their intellect and their souls," Mulvale said.
