As November is Diabetes Awareness Month, Oakville schools will be planning activities as a general awareness campaign, said Shelagh Barry, JDRF regional manager for south central Ontario. "The big symbol with respect to World Diabetes Day is the blue circle, so (in the past) we've had all the children come to school in blue and they go outside and make a big circle, basically coming together to celebrate diabetes awareness," she said.
