www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, October 31, 2012 · 16 By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Townhouses will access Baronwood Drive The Town's Planning and Development Council voted last week to approve zoning changes that pave the way for Peppergate Developments Inc. to build 166 stacked townhouses on Khalsa Gate south of Dundas Street and east of Bronte Road. The 2385-2389 Khalsa Gate homes will have road access onto Baronwood Drive. It's been a source of concern for area residents worried about traffic both during construction and after. Resident Pete Salem who told council he represents 50-100 people from his neighbourhood, said the access onto Baronwood Drive and increased traffic would create a safety hazard for Baronwood children and families. Town staff reported Baronwood Drive is designed to accommodate the type of vehicle traffic anticipated from the development. Peppergate Developments representative Laurie McPherson said the developer was not interested in delays that would result from having to find another access for the townhouses. Residents of Baronwood Drive will soon have to accept more traffic on their street with the arrival of a nearby development. Ward 4 Town and Regional Councillor Allan Elgar called for the Baronwood Drive access to be permitted. He pointed out that if council voted against it, the developer would almost certainly take the issue to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), which would not only rule in favour of the developer, but may authorize a larger development than what is contemplated. Elgar's motion, which was approved by council, also called for construction traffic for the development to stay off Baronwood Drive. everything in the store including FREE DELIVERY & SETUP * Friday, Nov. 2 - Monday, Nov. 5 20% off G sd d a 's n e Show and Sale November 10 & 11 Saturday 10am - 5pm / Sunday 11:05am - 4pm Antique OAKVILLE 4 DAYS ONLY ALL FLOOR MODELS DRASTICALLY REDUCED TO CLEAR AP Industries, Amisco, Bermex, BG Furniture, Brentwood Classics, Buhler, Dutalier, Future Chair, Huppe, Ideal, Jaymar, MI-DI, Vangogh, Vogel and more The stars of the antique business move indoors at Oakville to stage a unique and memorable event Top dealers in antiques, vintage and Mid Century modern bring great finds direct from the source to you.
