HUGHES, Arthur Roy Edward (Roy) Passed away peacefully in his 82nd year with his family by his side on October 5, 2012 at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Roy was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario. Beloved husband of Edith for nearly 57 years. Loving father to Lesley (Loyd) Nicholson, Diane (Fred) Gage, Eric (Dawn) Hughes, Tyrone (Sandra) Hughes and Niles Hughes. Will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Ryan, Meagan and Joel Gage, Michael and Sarah Hughes, Rory, Aaron and Hayley Nicholson along with his great-grandchild Brodie Pollock. Roy is predeceased by his parents May and Arthur Hughes of Oakville and predeceased by his siblings Lily and Reggie. Roy is survived and missed by his siblings Winnie (Jack) McKay, Charlie (Betty) Hughes and William Hughes. Dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Roy was a proud Naval Reservest with HMCS York for over 30 years, as well as a retired employee of CGT (formerly Monsanto) for 44 years. Roy was an avid motorcycling enthusiast and very much enjoyed the outdoors, including time spent at his cabin on Elephant Lake. Many thanks to Dr. Corinne Breen for her excellent care and the caring staff of 4 East of OTMH during his illness. A celebration of Roy's life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at St. Aidan's Anglican Church, 318 Queen Mary Drive, Oakville. A Private family interment to take place at St. Jude's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Foundation.
