YMCAs around world shooting for record The Peter Gilgan Family YMCA is asking Oakville residents to help make history this weekend. Saturday, YMCAs around the world will participate in a cross-globe basketball shoot-out in an effort to set a new mark in the Guinness Book of World Records. Created by the World Alliance of YMCAs, the event's goal is to mobilize five million people around the world on one day to shoot basketballs and show how the organization is empowering youths worldwide using culture, sports, education, exchange programs and other tools and activities. The shoot-out record attempt will take place locally at the 410 Rebecca St. YMCA from noon-2:45 p.m. The YMCA World Challenge event will also feature a Toronto Raptors Mobile Fan Zone, from 2-6 p.m., where participants can step inside the basketball team's locker room trailer and get a taste of what it would be like to be a member of the Raptors. A free Learn to Dribble clinic for children ages eight-12 will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. and will include a 30-minute welcome, group activity by Raptors youth basketball development coaches, one-hour drill-based and skill-development clinic, and free Raptors T-shirts and wristbands. "For her to go, in a high pressure situation, and ride exactly how she had to, it was incredible. Pretty amazing." Lineker says Utopia Belles is a horse that knows what she wants.
