WEMTY STALLS 407? With fears that the 407 megainonster will only blunder inte Pickering, Oshawa is whining that Whitby- is stalling its extension tbrough Whitby te Oshawa. Whitby council is a strong supporter of the 407, juet as is every other council in seuth Durham. They just happened te, disagre. with the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) about where the 407-401 link should go in Whitby. But in pickcing a fight - or simply disagreeing - with almighty MOT, bas brought them more trouble (and expense) than they ever dreamed. Such determination and independence would far better serve the community bad it been directed against, the entire 407 project itself. But then the 407 monster is running through Our community of Broodlin and not through Whitby where, surprise, surprise, council is courageously battling te prevent the link from cutting- through western parts of the town.
