BIRD FEEDER TOUR A tour of the bird feeder trail at Lynde Shores Conservation Area wilI be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, starting from 2 p.m. Authority staff will discuss operating a bird feeder prograrn, types of feeders and will lead the tour ta see the different species of birds. Authority staff will provide bird seed. Authority staff will conduct a winter wildlife hike at Heber Down on Sunday, Feb. 4, starting at 2 p.m. The hike will be through the woods, not on trails, so the authority advises that proper footwear be worn. Groups of 10 or more wishirxg ta participate are asked ta contact the authority office before Feb. 2. w ppr e a' I The current eight- bag or can limit for garbage collection in Whitby will be reduced ta six items effective Jan. 1, 1996. Aiao affected will be the limit for multi-residential dwellings and townhouse developments which will be reduced from the current four- bag or can limit ta three items. Residents will be able ta have more than the maimum numbËer of garbage bags or cana collected by purchasing special bag tags and placing a tag on each item that they place out over the limit. The bag tags will cost $1 each and can be purchased from the municipal offices on Rossland Road East. The Town is also investigating the possible sale of the bag tags at other locations within the tawn. The Town has implemented the reduction ini the number of bags or cans collection at the curb ta encourage residents ta recycle and compost the waste they generate.
