New Year 9s Eve bash Planed After an audition session at Cullen Gardens, featuring talent from across Durham Region, the performers have been selected for the Celebrate Durham '94 closing ceremonies. Between 4 and il p.m. on New Year's Eve, Whitby talent will ho showcased on an outdoor and three indoor stages throughout Cullen Gardens. Tree ights switched on Friday A tree-lighting ceremony will be held by the Downtown Whitby Business Improvement Area at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, in front of the Wihitby Public Library on Dundas Street West. The WVhitby Brass Band will join the community in celebrating Christmas. Other special guests will include the Town Crier, Whidtby councillors and, of course, Santa. The whole family can join in and sing Christmas carols, have a a visit with Santa and simply enjoy a cup of hot apple cider and enjoy the lighting of the trees. Residents are encouraged te bring a non-perishable food item te the ceremony. Ail donations received for the food drive will go te the Salvation Armny.
