In 1957, James Houston demonstrated basic printmaking methods to Inuit artiste at Cape Dorset. A group of local artise began to niake numerous stonecut and stencil pints using local material, and adresn their ovin culture and history. The first set of Cape Dorset prints, 41 in total, were released in 1959.
