Town Funeral Chapel 22-18 te, emerge as the 1994 Wihitby Minor basebal T-bali champions. Langley won ail six of their playoff gainas. W.C. Town teok an early first inning lead, scoring thair firat four batters then adding thre more runs before their inning was complets. Even more impressive was Town's first inming defence. Particuiarly effective was Town's infield combination of Eric Macean, Mark James and Michael Miller as they limiàtad rLangley te five runs. Towne continued te bat wal duing the second inning, scoing five of their first eight batters. With rlunners on fîrst and second, and Glen Davey, Town's cleanup batter, at the plate, Town was poised to put the gamne out of reach. Athough the baIl was hit wel to right field, Langley's Ian Mfillar charged the bail, flelded it on one hop, then threw a strike to catcher Stephen Heaslip who neatly caught the bail, touched home plate forcing ail of the Town's runners eut. Whiitby than dafeated Kingston TFennis club playoffs on weekend The Whitby Tennis Club will hoid its annual club championahips Aug 26-28. The draws will consist of men's singles and doublas, ladies' singles and doubles, and mixed doublas. The praiminary rounds wilha held on Friday and Saturday, ~with the semi-finals and finals heing held on Sunday. The championahipa ara opan only te current membera of the club. Evaryona is invited te coma te the courts and watch the action.
