Canada is really cold compared to where I corne from. Spain is a fairly warmn country with no snow and full of green grass and trees. But it isn't juet the climate and the landacape that are different. Spanish people and their lifeetyle are not even close to Canadian culture. There is a big difference, for exaxnple, in meals. In Spain breakfast is served veqyrfy in the morning and lunch is served between 2 and 3 p.m. Dinner is the largest meal and is served between 8 and 10 p.m. I think that's the reason why Fin always hungry here. AIse different are teenagers *com the two countries. A Canadian teenager usually goeo out aroundi p.m. on a Friday and returns - aound 1 or 2 a.m. In Spain, teenagers have dinner at the time Canadien people go out, and around il p.m. everyone goes to the discos or bars, returming in the morning, depending on curfews. The drinking age in Spain is 16, but aperson has tobe18 to get bis/lier drivers licence. Soloists in the three selections lncluded Brad Carter on alto sax, Sarah Hey tenor ëax, Mike Elrnhurst trombone, Geof Hoghton and Claire Braznma trumpet, Beth Gillies guitar and Elaine Yau piano. Adjudicators John Davis, Ken Jones and Brian Lillos, were unanimous in awarding a gold standard te the group. The clinic which followed was directed by Brian Lillos from Humber College who gave. praise te the group for some excellent work and provid!ed valuable information for improvements which could be made te continue the group's development. Kathryn Fairchild, a member of the trumpet section in her final year, received a Don Strathdee honour award for outstaniding leadership and contribution to the miusic prograni at Anderson. Kevin HIliBard was awarded a Humber College scholarship, one of two awarded to studexits in the stage band or combo classe at the 201 leveL. This coming weekend, concert bands from Anderson will travel to Scarborough to perform at Sir John A.
