Page 25 Seleets dominate for third tournament wrLn The Whiitby major atoin select teain, spensored by Hardco Contracting and Excavating, won the select chainpienship of the CTJPE Local 4900 atom toumainent in Est Gwilllmbury on Dec. 5. After winning two out of thre rep toraients in the last three weks, thi was the firat select tournanent for the teain this year. The first twe gaines of the tournent were lopsided victories for Whitby, with a 23-0 thrashing over Agincourt and a 16-0 drubbing over Guelph. In the third gaine, Witby skated te a convincîng 5-0 win over East Gwillimbury. On Sunday in the championship gaine, Witby met a very determined Guelph team eut te, redeemn theniselves after the 16-0 drubbing the previeus day. However, the Unme of Ryan Meaney, Kyle Ruttan and hke KeCbrynow.ch, outstanding through- eut the' teurnament, strong defensive pa b the defence corps of Ryan Mendes, Chris Michaud, Ryan Robb, Nichelas Michie, Brian Leni and Ryan Harris and solid goaltending by Adami Rinaldi, proved te, be toe much for Guelph as VWhy won 3-0 for the championship. The teain has now won seven straight gaies without allowing a goal te be scored. Great goaltending by Mfichael Thornton and Rinaldi, and emphasis on twe-way play by the teain as a whole, have contributed to their success this year. Goal-scorers in the teurnament were Meaney (11), Ruttan (100, Kobrynovich (five), Mike Astalos (fIve), David Besco (three), Stefan Hase (five), Gary Kitamura (two), Mike Iàske (twe), Mendes (two), Robb and Sean Holmes.
