The corvette warship was launchod in 1943. It was spon- sored by the Town of 'Whitby' for the duration of World War II and was deconfimissioned in 1945. A cake-cutting ceremony will be held at noon in front of the CIBC at the four corners, as tribute to the launch of the war- ship. Jet in the distant medieval past, the story, by Whitby tea- cher Ed Dixon, foLows the trials and tribulations of the villagers of 'Obacurus.' Afler a hountiful harveat, the village is pillaged by knights of the evil Lord Venoni, who take moat of the male vllagers as slave labour. It is left te the women of the village, accompanied by an eld friar and uselessa but named Slothl te- try and rescue their mon. Their quest hogins a tale of mystery, romance, betrayal, coni- dy, magic and swordplay which climaxes in a dramatic confron- tation between the forces of good and evil.
