Alison Henry won in solo tap, Jennifer Lee in solo pointe, Kim Thomas in solo lyrical, Katie Van Camp and Thomas in duo ballet and the entire junior and senior dance company for their produc- tion number, 'Master of the House.' Thomas and Van Camp both won a ballet scholarship to New York City this summer. The dance troupeo also won 24 silver and eight bronze awards, and will next compote in the Dance Educators of Axnerica finals in Orlando, FIa., July 14 to 19. The company will performi in the 'Sounds of S]p ing' fundrais- ing variety show TMay 14 and 15 at Father Leo J. Scuiptor, students do 'Body' work for kds' fest About two dozen Durham Board of Education students from secondary schools across the region will work May 15 and 16 with Brooklin sculptor W.B. (Bill) Fraser. A framework for four wooden figures will be constructed, with completion during the Milk International Children's Festival, May 17 to 24, at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto. Thousands of children visiting the festival will have the Brendan Nolan, a Dublin-born Montrealer, will perform at the Vital Spark Folk Club in Oshawa on Saturday night, May 15. Nolan's newest recording, 'Across the Great Divide,' is a compilation of songs about im- migration -- one song, 'The Ourse of the Immigrant,' reveals Nolan's struggle about beîng caught between two countries, Ireland, the one ho left, and Canada, the one he had adopted. Admission for the show, at 91 Centre St. S., Oshawa, is $ for members, $10 for non-members. Fraser is no stranger te Durham students. He worked last yerwith students at Pickering ~Iigh School to construct a permanent sculpture gardon in the outdoorl courtyard at the achool. As part of his summer teaching schedule, Fraser taught conceptual art from 1987 te 1991 at the Durham Board of Education's art/music camp that takes place each June at Camp White Pine, Haliburton. For the exhibition, called 'A Public Room: a place for cultural thinking and studio actîvities,' Open Studio curator Liz Wylie has selected 37 works from the 1,100 prints created at the studio between 1986 and 1990.
