Meanwhile, Germain's child- hood friend, Mathilde, waits n atiently for him to realize what oýve truly is. Once Germain discovers Ali, the genie in the bottle, ho decides te make his dreams come true. The two-hour play, aimed at adults, was directed by Denise Gagne eaie, former French teacher and librarian at Garnier., usually writes the school play each year. The play was presented by 'Les pinces sans rire,' a theatre troupe from the Durham regional French community committee 'Ls promotions culturelles.! The troupe is made up of Joel Boivin who stars as Gemain, Cathy Jordan as Mathilde, Sophie D'Auzac-Delamartinie as Lorraine and Mathieu Tanguay as the genie. Gagne was assisted during rehearsals by Francfine Faubert, and the Grade 9 students at the school painted the rops. Special Iighting and soun e fects were ase creatod by students of the school. Rochette, an engineer for Unitel Communication Inc., has previously written two short stories for the, French-Canadian publication 'LEcho.' Ho also created a cartoon strip for a local Queboc pavor when ho and his famnily lived thero.
