Austin Secondary School, Whitby. Produced and directed by Bert Heaver, well-known in theatre activities in Durham Region, the show has been put together as a fundraiser for the Whitby General Hospital building extension. 'Sounds of Spring' is a liveiy mixture of songs that appeal to ail ages, comedy, a variety of dance numbers and, for good measure, some audience participation -- for peeple who lovej te sing along with the performers, and some good, oid-fashioned hand-clapping as extra accompanument. Appearing in the show wil ho some well-known local enter- tainers including Jini Renshaw, Evert and Bey Mcflwain, Laurie Spencer, Dana-Lynne Wood, Paul Hundert, Joan Rundie, Rtick Kerr, Gorge Camnpbell, 'Thr[lee Men and a Bass' and award-winning dancers from the Inta Leja Studio of Dance in Whitby. Bey Smith is the musical director for the two-hour show and has been a partner of Heaver's in many simuàlar shows for a number of years. Country and western enter- tainment will be held throughout the week in the fundraising effort for the Sick Children Hos- pital Foundation in Toronto. Country and western bands as well as fiddlers, line dancers, cloggers and square dancers will perforni during the week. The highlight of the week wil be on Saturday, May 22 when there will be niarionette shows at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p .n., Stetson Band and Guests (local singers, fiddie player, cloggers and line dancers) frorn 2 to 5 p.x., and the Ventura II Band froni 6 to 8:30 p.m. Throughout Saturday after- noon, Miracle Foodmart wiii oversee a barbecue fundraiser on the Whitby Mail parking lot. There will be no admission charge for an y of the perfor- mances, but donations will be accepted. A donation box will be set up near the stage in the Whitby Mail and the inerchants will display donation boxes in their stores throughout the week.
