The campaign will ask purchasers in the region to re-examine their purchasing policies to ensure that they are supporting local businesses whenever possible. The chamiber launched its 'Support Your Local Business campaign at a media conference yesterday (Tuesday) nt the Holiday Inn. Regionai chair Gary Herrema, members of the business community and union representatives were on hand to unveil a six-foot 'Support Your Local Business' bilîboard. The Cabinet Committee on North American Free Trade held publiic hearings on the North American free-trnde agreement in Oshawa April 19. Witndases included Art Field of the Canadian Automobile Workers (Local 222), Nigel Dearsiey of the Richmond Hill Chamber of Commerce, Jillian Mann-Wilson of the Durham region Labour Council and Arme Emmett of the Voice of Women.
