On Saturday, Whitby opened their series by scorng a convincing 8-3 win at Iroquois Park. Blaine Down, Bebby McBride and Sean MacRury each scored twice for the winnera while Jason Peyman and Steven Farquharson added, singles. MacRury, Down, Robert Lalondo and Jay Harrison each had two assista while Mike Nemnisz played a strong gaine in goal. The return match in Quinte on Sunday proved te be a more defensivo affalr with the local squad ceming away wth a 4-3 come-from-behnd victory in overtimo. MacRuryopened the scorng for Whitby 'from MeBrido and Sean Walah early in the firat but the home tearn countered with throe straight goals te tako a 3-1 lead. Poyman stuffed home a rebound after a MacRury breakaway with throe minutes te go in the second period te narrow the margin and set the stage for the coeneck. In a close checking third, Lalondo set Down up for the equalizer with six minutes te go and neither team could score threugh. the romainder of regulation turne. With just three seconds te play in the 10-minute extra frame, McBride knocked home a Harrison point shot fer the winner.
