Whitby downed Malvern 6-0, Scarboi-ough City Cougars 10-O and Agincourt Canadians 11-0. Sharing the shutouts were Matthew Redshaw and Chris Foxwell. Whitby played the championship game against the Wexford Mustangs. t7 was a hard-fought game until the final period when Sean Brackin scored on a set-up from Elliott Fitzsimmons. Defenceman Damii Amurawaiye also scored on an end-to-end rush as Whitby won 4-3. Whitby goals and assists throughout the tournament are Brackin eight goals and three assiste, J.P. Galipeaul1- seven goals and two assists, Bryan Mantle one goal and seven assiste, Kyle Limkilde three goals and three assiste, Matthew Gillard one goal and three assiste, Fitzsimmons four assiste, Robert Muir three goals, Shane Healy two goals and one assist, Gregoryý Tsagris two assists and Carl Di Carlo one assist. Brackin won roller blades as tournament MYP. After the victory, the teami surrounded the Stanley Cup for a hug, and then spent the afternoon at Don Cherrys for a victory celebration. Whitby opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Jeremy Brimble assisted by Jason Connor, but Downsview came right back te tie the game. Connor, assisted by Brimble and Sean Kerr, gave Whitby the lead late in the first period. Justin Conners kept Dewnsview at bay, stopping two breakaways. Marc Gleeson took over the goaltending duties in the second half of the game. Gleeson's shutout performance combined with late goals by Justin Hawe (assisted by Kyle Musselman and Sean Hill) and Billy Head (from James Lske) gave Whitby a4-1 win. Sunday morning, the Whitby squad came te the championship game determnined te win. The players came eut flying and eamned a convincing 11-0 victory over Lorne Park from Mississauga. Connors and Gleeson. registered their third shutout of the tournament. Scoring fer Whitby were Musselman, Hawe, Adam Death, Adam Thibodeau and Karen Farquhtarson with singles. Two-goal performances came from Liske, Head and Kerr. Assisting on goals were Hill, Robin Cote, Liske, Conner, Brimble, Mussehnan, Robert Eberle, Head, Hawe, James Simpson and Michael Mllen. Whitby wrestlers lst Three wrestlers frem Palmer- ston public echool and one from R.A. Sennett had first-place finishes at the second annual Durham X-L's Wrestling Festival Feb. 20. Malcolm Maclea of Palmerston won the 35kg. division among novices (aged 9 and 10); Mike Probert eof Palmerston won the 35kg. division among kids (aged il and 12); Drew Henry won the 39kg. division in kids. Devon White of Sennett won the 42.7kg division in kids. Palmerston was fourth everal and Sennett fifth in kids in teami resulte, and Palmerston was f»ifth in novice. Fifteen clubs -- a total of 230 wrestlers -- took part in the competition. The Whitby Goldwing Systems Resources Ine, major novice AA hockey team got their first hat trick of the season from Nick Verkuyl on their way to a 5-4 victory recently over Goulding Park of Toronto. Ben Stanton scored the other two goals, with assists coming from Matt lErcock (two) and singles ftrm Chris Simpson, Andrew Greenen, Scott Wilson and Ryan McMichael.
