If they expect, or want a good turnout than be prepared to be açcomtnodating. Also, why are these debates cut off at 10 p.m. or 10:30 pa. when there is so much we want te know?. Are the custodians running this town? Too much time wàs spent on repeated questions a nd answers. Only two questions were asked from the main body- of, this large audience 'uiot fair' and then we were ail ushered out. SSuggestion -- forget the miciophones, some peope just like- te grandstand anyway. Have everyone who wishes write their' questions, and a selected non-plitical panel should be' designated te, direct these questions at wbichever candidate or group of candidates il?. aimed, important issues coming te the foreground. This method should eliminate abusive attacks on specific candidates and I think most- of us are capable of interpreting the answers ourselves. It was quite evident: as the. evening progresSd that the new boy on the block, Jim Priest, was targeted for direct, intentional bits. There was a question directed te Mr. %rest, from a very nervous young man, about whether the Kirkland. Lake dumpoite --was safe? Since there were only two minutes allowed to respond, the answer was "yes," it was a- safe site."e Why then did everyone else on the panel have the anawer .- wasn't necessary.'0f -course this pvided an opportunity for Joe Drumm, Marcel Brunelle and Rosm Batten te, blast away at Jim Prient, which was' called ,for. Tom Edwards then had to remark with venom that this teenager had done his homework, and it was too bad Jim, Priest hadn't done bis. This ddidt.impresa the audience, and- doesn't Mr. Edwardsknow that when you have te asI a questio, you haven't done your homework. Mr. Priest answered t he'question, and as a minîig- consultant, I- believe that in aul probability , ha had done'bis homework maUny times over.
