Local firm makes more effective, quieker composter A Durham Region manufacturing firm, Workwel Producte, has recently designed and produced an alternative te the old-fashioned compost pile or bin system. ThoLh much research, WorkwelT Products of Oshawa designed a composter for the backyard that works effectively and quiecker, and with less work, 1han the traditional compost pile or bin composting system. In the Workwell system, a rotating drum allows both easy turning of the compost and fr-equent aeration. It bas beon discovered that the decomposition process is much faster- as the air supply is increased te, the composting material. This is mainly because the bacteria that causes a compos 'le te, break down, feeds on air. Te more air that reaches the compost material, the quieker the compoeting process.
