Tykes win Whitby tournament Whitby Warriors tyke A rep lacrosse teain, sponsored.bçy the Brooklin Redmen, won the Whitby Minor Lacrosse Associationls annual rep tournament June 8, 9 and 10. Whitby opened the tournament on June 8 by defeating Peterborough Lakers 4-2. On June 9, Wbitby devastated Kitchener by a score of 16-1 te, keep their undefeated streak intact. This win proved important as it secured the Whitby club a bye into Sunday's championahip final. The championsbip gaine turned outý te be another Whitby- P'eterborough final, a cominon scenario over the past few years. This was -.fltting as they are currently the two beat tyke teams in the prvnce. This year Whitby has ben succesaful in ail previous meetings with the rue winning three gaines, including the opener i this tournainent. The gaine was expected te, be close. 'We beat Peterborough in their own park three weeks ago te win the Liaker'a Clasic," aaid head coach Ian Wailea before the gaine. 'Tou can be sure they want to do the sanie te, us today." The firat period was a nail-biter with Peterborough hanging on te, a one-goal lead on a goal by David Lloyd.
