I n minor bantam AA play dur- ing the international silver stick AAA tournament held in Whitby over the weekend, Whitby swept up their division and beat Wex- ford in the final gaine by a 6-4 count. Whitby will advance to the international silver stick finals for AA teams, to be held Jan. 19-21. In their first game of divisional action, Whitby knocked off Wex- ford 3-O. Goals came from the sticks of Brian Burke with two and Josh Ford with one. Jeff Clayton secured the shutout and was rewarded as the game's rnost valuiable player. In their second game, Whîtby rode ail over Waterloo in an 8-2 pounding. Scott MacDonel played superbly to score four goals. Burke and Ford had two each while Paul Moore tipped in the single. Jason Bonnyman was named MVI'. The third gaine saw Whitby edge. KIitchener 4-2. Bonnyman, Moore, Chuck Ballach and Ford, who al1so took MVP honors, had one goal apiece. In their semi-frnal game, Whitby defeated Hamiliton 2-1. Ford rallied for the two Whitby goals while Ben Newell was awarded as MVI'. Hýenry Street High School, in their first regular season game, lost 7-2 to Denis -O'Connor. The game was played at Iroquois Park. Karen Dowell Forrest of Osh- awa won the gold to secure the Canadian ladies black belt cham- pionship. In overali ranking the Oshawa club finished third in Canada, behind first-place British Col- ombia, and second-place Quebec. The men's heavyweight and jniorgrs' tearns won the gold, while the ladies and junior by won the bronze. The club trains out of Oshawa Simicoe Hall.
