The National Association of Photographie Artists (NAPA) held an exhibition of photographs at the Art Gallery of Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from JuIy 7 to Aug. 6. The exhibition, juried by three prominent Canadian photographers', marked the l5Oth anniversary of the introductory of photography. McQuay won two eut of the three prestigious judged choice awards. These awards are given for overail show entries rather than specific categories. She also won an honorable mention for a third ihotograph. Ail of the winnrng photographe are images of people* Two images were made as close as Eastern Ontario and as far away as the Anides Mountains -in Ecuador, South America. McQuay is currently planning a seven-week photographic trip te the Outer Hebrides and Orkney, Islands of Scotland where she wil continue work on a series of photographs about the ancient Standing Stone Circles and Iniagery of the Celte. This work will be shown at The Station Gallery in Whitby in February 1990. In 1983, McQuay studied photogaphy at the Maine Phtorahc Workshop in Rockport, Mainie. Her courses ARTIST Mary Ellen McQuay, shown outside her Whitby home, combines photography and oils with dazzling results. She just finished a display at the Buckhorn art show.
