Weedman had reached the semi-final by coming from behin d to defeat Baker Furniture in an earlier playoff match-up. Friendly Acres had edged Whitby Trophy House 7-6 in overtime. In the mixed division, Frosty Freddies won the championship with a 6-5 overtinie win over Brooklin Cycle Marine. MORESPORTS Eut for a lack of' floor space, the Whitby league could h ave had as many as 16 teams this season, according to a league officiai. The Whitby league has also moved to the AA level, up from the A level of Iast year. A&J Dusters last year won the Ontario A championship, which AL lifted the league ur to the AA level. Games are played Sunday, *Monday and Tuesday nights at iroquois, Park and Brooklin's Luther Vipond arena. The Whitby league will aiso hold a tournament July 21, 22 and 23. Sponsors thus far this season are A&J Dusters, McKee Fuels, T.C. Silk Screening (sponsors of Garrard Roadrunners), Chris Wood (s ponsor of Brooklin Braves), Torna Enterprise, OMS, ReMax and Canadian Interiors. Two teams require sponsors.
