Attersley's comments came after council received a letter from the Ministry of Municéipal Affairs which noted their objec- tion to Whitby and Durham Region councils' recent decision to down zone four blocks of land in Otter Çreek. "It'is very disturbing to me that someone wants to tell us how to plan Whitby. Rob Edmonstone of 915 Green St. was upstairs in the residence when the fire started. Durham Regional Police report the fire started at 5 a.m. in the basement of the residence. A 51-year-old woman, Joan Ames, was in the basement when the fire started. She escaped without injury. Police believe the fire wvas caused by careless smoking. Damage is estimated at $3,000.
