Whiteley, 12, of the Pickering Aerials Gymnastics Club, won the overali gymnast of -the year award for the club this past year. He was gymnast of the year (maIe) for 1987; and placed eighth overaîl provincially in his first year of competitve gymnastics. Going into his third year of gymnastics, Whiteley does ail six events in gym: floor exercises, high bar, parallel bar, pommel horse, rings and the vault.
