LOB CO 655-3251 Tractor pull again is on two ni ghts With the tractor pull as the consistent big draw at the annual Brooklin Spring Fair, the event will again be held over two nights as it was sorne years ago. So organizer Alec Escholtz expects "quite a bit more rnetal and iron coring in" for the ever popular event to be held on both Friday and Saturday nights. Escholtz, organizer of the pull for il years now, says the hig1hway tractor-trailers Will again return, on SaturdaY night, after an absence in meent years due to high liability insurance costs. It brings in a different class of people," says Escholtz of the 18-wheeler event that brings in truckers frorn a wide area. He expects 10 to 15 trucks this year. "They're strictly buit from scratch. they look like a kings-sized go-kart," says Esch- loltz, an employee of Hub Initernational (forrnerly Heron Farrn Equipment) for many years. Saturday's lineup is rounded out wit the pro stock class, the "big, souped-up farm tractors." On Friday, competition will take place in the rnodified tractor (full size) classes and mini- modified pullers. Escholtz says every class has a legion of interested spectators. The pulls get underway at 7 A FA VORIEE 0F THE KIDS Pedal tractor Pull will start on Friday By VERONICA COLANGELO The kiddies' pedal tractor pull, sponsored by Peterbuilt Construction, is an event especially for children 12 years and under and weîghing 100 lbs and under. The event is run throughout the fair, starting on the afterýnoon of Friday, June 4. Finals will be held on Sunday, June 5. The special pedal tractors are supplied for alI participants and ail contestants are given three chances to get the sled rnoving frorn the starting lines. Organizer Marie Williamson says that this is a fun event and the children love it. Permission is required from the child's parents or guardian and a forrn rmust be signed. AIl contestants mnust present a signed permission slip at the tirne of the pedal pull.' Williarnson says that all the local schools will be receiving these permission formns in advance of the fair. The event will be held in the tennis courts and a timetable will be posted there for pull trnes. Registration will be held one hour, before the pull time.
