"There isa some damn poor plan- ning when portables are added at the same time as the school," commented councillor Marcel Brunelle about the design of the school to include a location for six portables. "We (the Town) know the plannng probleins, the board and Ministry of Education should know as well. This is poor plan- ning for the future," added Brunelle. But when Mayor Bob Attersley reminded Brunelle that the board Plan three or four years in advace, Brunelle agreed, adding that the problein lies with the ministry. >"Both' boards do an excellent job," agreed Attersley. "inm not surprised to see portables go up at sanie time as the schools," said west ward councîllor Joe Bugelli. He said he was happy to see two day care rooms as part of the school's design. Brunelle also was upset ta hear that the Town requires the board ta make a financial provision in their contract for restoration of any damage to the road or for mud cleaning duripg construc- tion. "These are two public bodies. I hope we monitor this and over turne, if the board is responsible, we forgive them for that financial arrangement," said Brunelle., But west wvard councillor Joe Drumin reminded Brunelle that school construction can cause numerous probleins. "'I should know," said Drumîn, who bas hadtwo sehools built in his ward in the past three years. Regional councillor Tom Ed- wards was opposed to the size of the school which will sit on land slightly larger than five acres. "That is not really big enough for a school that size,'" he said. The two-story school, which is as yet unnamed (a sehool board committee, including Whitby trustees, la considlering naine possibilities), will consist of 13 At Pringle Creek school one library, one music room, one science room, one art roomn and two day care rooms.
