Dagmar finds her new job a little difficuit but it requires a lot less physical labor than hier previous job as a cook -for Trafalgar Castle School. The Welers chose to move the showroom to Witby because it was dloser to home. "We decided to open up this one (the Whitby showroom) mainly because Whitby is our home," says Dagmar Weller who, alohg with ber husband, have been residents' of Whitby for eight years. The showroom is relatively small, however, because a majority of the work done by Weller is by custom order. "People like to save up for fur- niture. They like to get something unique," says Dagmar Weller.-, "'There is no limit to the work that can* be done," she says of her husband's experience. as a, craftsman. The showroom is decorated with a few pieces, most of whicli are in the traditional Canadian style, which is more contemporary. Each piece does not just stand on its own, as they are complementeci with handmnade works of various Canadian and international artists. The Wellers also displayed some of these works on their own, especially the works of Canadian glass blowers. Ail of the furniture is mdeby Weller or* the other two craftsmen he employs at bis workshop located in Pickering.
