PAGE 30, WHITBY FREE PRESS, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 1987 TOO LATE FOR CHRISTMAS It was a week before Christmas and the families were getting ready for Christmas. That day they went shopping to buy Christmas presents and they bought candy also and when that family got home they had a big feast of dinner. They were not very poor because they almost had a million, it was enought to buy 100,000,000 presents. So they had enough and then it was the night before Christmas. The children were so excited to see Santa Clause that night they could hardly sleep. Rachel said I am staying up tonight she said with a big roar. That night they went to sleep and this powder fell on them and that morning they did not wake up the powder was sleeping powder. They slept and slept they missed Christmas. Santa Clause missed coming to their house a week later they woke up they went in.the living room and said where is our candy and presen- ts. Santa Claus didn't come. It's Too Late for Christmas. Santa was out in the stable looking at the reindeer to see which ones were ready for Christmas night. It was cold that night and Santa had no coat on. So Santa could not do his route on Christmas eve. "All the children will be sad" sneezed San- ta, I will do the route for you" said Mrs. Claus. So on Christmas night Mrs. Claus was in the sleigh. In a manger full of straw, He showed to all who saw, What life was meant to be, To you and me. And a star shining bright, Guided those who saw this light, And beckoned all who came, And told that Jesus was his name He was our saviour, sent from God, Though he still was a child, He would nod, In answer to his quest, That he would try his best, To save us from evil men. That was the first Christmas, way back then. Lily Liang Gr. 7, St. Paul's CHRISTMAS MEANS TO ME as means waking nding gifts, s and a tree o means d Mary and n the stable here so quietly. From Susan Carter Gr. 1, Leslie McFarlane SANTA'S BIG PROBLEM One chilly night in the North Pole Santa had a big problem. His toe hurt. So 1, Sally Reindeer, went to him and asked if he was going out for Christmas Eve. But he was not going. All the elves making toys were disappointed. And everyone was so sad when they heard this. So they told Sally to tell him that they liked him. And when Christmas came he went. Everyone was so glad that he was going out. And then in a flash he was dressed and out the door. He went to every house and gave toys to every child. And when he got home he told Mrs. Claus how tired he was. Then he undressed into his pyjamas and went to bed. He was glad he didn't have to go out for another year. Jean Koslowski Gr. 3, R.A. Hutchison By JOANNA KORACH West Lynde P.S. Y WHITBY Watch for course specials next issue.
