I went down the stars and there was the cutest little puppy with two yellow bows in her hair. She had a tag in her mouth saying "4Hi."e I picked her up and I knew what I was going to name her - POKEY. I called all my friends that morning and told them about my new dog. They were happy for me and Sarah come over to see my new dog and she said to me you have the cutest little puppy. Do you know what you are going to name her? Yes I do. It is Pokey. Ill always remember that special Christmas when I got my puppy. Isn't Christmas wonderful. Free Press photo THE ADVENTURES OF A CHRISTMAS TREE It's December 9th I'm a tree living in the forest with my two friends on both sides of me. The next day, my friend on the left got chopped down. It was good and bad in a way. It was good because she got to live in a nice warm and cozy house. It was bad because she won't have me as a friend anymore. That's of course if we don't meet up again. Two days later this old granny was looking at me. Then she stated, "I'll take this one it looks fine." She put me in the trunk and paid for me. She only paid $10.00. I at least expected $100.00 since I am so gorgeous Well it sure was a bumpy ride hoime but it was worth while. When A e got to her house I was amaze -t was ten times the size of the meet. And of all places in that huge h:ouse, she put me in the basement for about five days. No one came down or anything. I fell asleep a few times. The day finally came, it was December 23. They put me in a base and started to decorate me with tinsel and can- dy canes. The finishing touch was the lighting. Then she plugged them in and I thought I looked quite ravishing myself. She turned me off and I guess I must have fallen asleep for a long time because when I woke up it was just in time. I saw Santa Clause. He was putting presents on my feet. It felt comfor- ting. He didn't put very many because my owner wasn't married. In the morning she opened her presents one of them was a microwave. It was very attractive. It turned out to be a great Christ- mas after all. The part I didn't like was after Christmas when they dit- ched me. From now on instead of living in a nice house I lived in the city dump! By Laura Scholtes Grade 4, St. John's THE HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF ALL One cold night Santa was in bed. Vixon came running in. Santa told Vixon what had happened, but it's almost time to go. I'm sorry Vixon, I have pains.all over. And just then Santa sneezed and blew up Vixon in the air. So Vixon walked outside. Then Mrs. Claus saw how sad Vixon was. All right Ill go. So he got on his clothes. He went in where the reindeer were. Santa told the reindeer don't just lay there get up and start moving. So the rein- deer got up and charged down San- ta. So Santa put on their leashes and took off. Anisa Watkins Gr. 3, R.A. Hutchison SANTA'SJOURNEY "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas." Santa was reciting for his big jour- ney. "Santa" says Mrs. Claus "it's time to go." "Okay dear" said San- ta. Santa was dressed in his suit in a flash. "I'm ready." said Santa. Dolee elf, hitch up the reindeer" said Santa "That's allready been done" answered Mrs. Claus. "Okay I'm going" said Santa. He nodded. He was in the sky flying high. He now was at his first stop. He went down the chimney. It was a beautifully decorated house. He put the presents under the tree. "Aaa choo" he sneezed. All the children woke up. Santa quickly went up the chimney. The children never saw him. But they found some fur from his suit under the tree. Kristy Simmert Gr. 3, Col. Farewell LETTER Dear Santa, I would like a V.C.R. for my mom and a T.V. for my mom to. Free Press photo SANTA DIDN'T COME TO ANYWHERE BUT MY HOUSE "Hurry up Santa" shouted Dingle the head elf "It's six o'clock pm". "Okay Okay" repeated Santa. The elves hooked up the reindeer and left. "Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixon, Comet, Cupid, Donnar and Blitzen. "Oh I almost forgot Rudolph." Pick up the speed - shouted Santa. Santa, Dingle and the reindeer ripped across the sky until they got to Whitby. "Here we are home of the marigold" chuckeled Santa. "Oh here's the turbo hopper Marcus Tully wants" And here's the Atari he also wan- ted," mumbfed~Santa. Time to go." Santa put his Singer to his nose and up he went. But little did he know he forgot his toys. Santa flew for hours and hours looking for his toys. On Christmas morning I came down- stairs and found his bag of toys. I unwrapped my turbo hopper and my Atari and then put out to deliver Santas toys. I told my mom I wouldn't be back for a couple of hours. I got to my neighbors house and gave them a couple of toys. Next.I went tothe next house, then the next, next, and finally I was done Whitby. I thought I would phone Santa to finish the job so I dialed 1-976-36-36 and asked for Santa. "Hello Santa. This is Marcus Tully. You left your sack of toys at my house" so that's were they are, I'il pick them up in about an hours." Meanwhile back in town people all over the globe were saying things like "Down with Santa. He didn't come" and some like "Now I know why scrooge doesn't buy Christmas presents." After about 3 hours later Santa came to my house and picked up his toys. He said thanks and took the toys. While everyone over the world was outside fighting over why Santa didn't come Santa went into everyones house and delivered presents. When people went back in their houses they were surprised. "Santa came!" "Santa came!" cried everyone in the world. That night Santa got thousands of letters telling him how sorry they were for calling him names and it turned out to be a happy Christmas after all. Well as for me I got a 10 thousand dollar shopping spree at Toys R Us. Well I guess it did turn out to be a great Christmas after all. So to everybody. We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Marcus Tully E.A. Fairman I NEED MY DRISTAN! One cold cold night in the North Pole Santa said, "I can't go on Christmas to deliver the gifts." "I can't find my Dristan." So he went to Shopper's Drug Mart. He got some Dristan. And after that he had some Hot Chocolate from Tim Hor- ton Donut's and then he went home. And Christmas was saved. Kyle Morrison Gr. 3, R.A. Hutchison THE CHRISTMAS BUSTERS The day before Christmas it was very cold, windy and noisey. There were faint noises like gun shots from the north pole. I was worried that Santa was dead. It was my bed time. I was worried all night. I was crying in the morning. I could not eat. My father was talking about an Iran Bombing. I ignored him. I was tired. it was time for school. Finally, recess. I didn't play. I was sad, Boo Hoo! I was sad, verysad. It was lunch. I did not eat my food. My friends asked me "What was wrong?" I said, "nothing." They said, "if you. say so". Suddenly... bang a gun shot, but closer this time. A lambhourgini raced-down the street. My friends said, "wow"! Il the street. My friends said, "wow"! I ignored them, but it was awesome. All day they talked about it. Home time. My mom took me to McDonald's. I got Baby Animal. I had a cheeseburger, chips and a rootbeer. After I finished we went home. We saw my Aunty Wendy on the way. My brother was with my grandmother. She went home. It was time for bed. I read a story and then went to sleep. In the morning I went to the Christmas tree. There hard. Then my mother came down. I told her about the gun shots. It was time for school. On the way I saw the lambhourgini, but with a cage with Santa Claus in it. I ran af- ter it. It stopped at the corner. The driver did fnot see me. I picked the lock with a hairpin. Santa was FREE. The next day al the presen- ts were under the tree. Darryl Jennings Gr. 4 Bellwood MR. SNOWMAN There wasp snowman three stacks high, Whose head was so tall, it reached the sky.
