Ap- plication was made for a commercial zoning of the clinic, now residen- tial and legal non- conforming .-_ 1Dr. Clayton McKay assured Neal that there would be no change in the operation, and therefore, no outside runs. The same concern was expressed by Chase Casagrande for the proposed vet clinic in a commercial plaza at 185 Thickson Rd. N. However, Dale Ram- phal, the applicant, said the tenlant of the clinic, a veterinarian for eight years, would not use outside runs. That would be stipulated in a lease agreement, said Ramphal. Services are lackmng for industrial growth A study will be done on the Town's future in- dustrial needs. Whitby does not have adequate servicing to handle future industrial growth said planning director Bob Short and administrative commit- tee chairman Marcel Brunelle at Moniday's committee session. "We're service poor,"l said Short. The com- -ments were made after councillor Gerry Emm suggested that Whitby increase its "stock" of industrial and commer- cial land to meet future applications. "We're on the threshold," said Emm of industrial growth. Short said the region will be studying in- dustrial needs and bas asked for input from Whitby. He added that the Thickson-401 inter- change area and Whitby Psychiatric Hospital lands have to be con- sidered in an industrial study. Crime * Stoppers -~ By SGT. S. Break and enters, both into houses and businesses, are an ongoing. problem for the community at large especially around Christmas time. Property valued at hun- dreds of thousands-of dollars is stolen every year and to date in the region there have been over 2,500 entries, nearly 1,600 of which have been into houses. Crime Stôppers will pay up to $1-,00 for in- formation leading to the arrest of persons responsible for these offences. Up to $1,00 will also be paid for the arrest of persons found in unlawful possession of stolen proper- ty. In addition similar rewards will be paid for information leading to arrests in any serious crime. Callers do not have to give their names or appear in court.
