The seniors are partlcularly nervous about their resuits,ý bût. a lot is off their shoulders now that half the year has gone. The firat set of marks are being processed for the Universities and by now anyone who has ap- plied to a University should have heard from each school. If> you haven't received any mail from the schools you apphied to then go to the, gudance office and there should be a print out of your application from the Ontaro Ap- plication Centre, this wlll insure that each school Winl have received an application. This second semester will be a very exciting one, witb student coun- cil working even harder to ensure that everyone caon participate in many school activities. I hope to see more people corne out for dances and other activities, such as the airband contest we had before the exam break; Greg 'Tilaton did a fabulous job organizing everything. Last Friday a group of 88 students and il teachers made their way to Horseshoe Valley for an evening of downhill, skiing. The outing was a great suc- cess even though there were a couple of minor injuries among the gang of would-be-Todd- Brookers. A special thanks to the teacher organizers for a fun- filled evening. On Thursday, Feb. 6, DO'C held its first dance of 1986. A great time was had by ail. A par- ticular thank you is ex- tended to Ed Devlin, our Social Convenor, for a terrific 5hoice of D.J. for the evening's enter- tainment. On Tuesday of last week the junior girls' volleyball teani defeated Ajax High School two games to one. Heidi Fischer scored eight straight points from service. Also on Tuesday, DO'C experienred its first junior/midget double header sweep against Vanier. The midget boys' basketball team pulverized Vanler 59-30 and boosted * their record 10 5-4. Hlgh scorer was Sean Vegter with 15 points. The junior boys defeated Vanier '53-41. Hlgh scorer was Adam Bertoia with 24 points. Smali business semina.r for wom en OSHAWA - Tips, ad- vice and methods of beginning a new business wiil be the focus of a "'starting a -small business" seminar for women on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at G.L. Roberts Collegiate. Sponsored by the On- tario Ministry of In- dustry, Trade and Technology in co- operation with Infor- mation Oshawa, the free seminar starts at 7p.m. "sBusiness Ownership for WVomen seminars are an excellent means of learning what it takes to succeed," Industry, Trade and Technology Minister Hugh P. O'Neil said. "Many women in- terested in starting a small business don't hav e the time or resour- ces to discover on.their own ail they need to know. These seminars will help them get star- ted." The seminars will be presented by women consultants -and business owners. Mary Eaton of the niinistry's Small Business Branch will be available to discuss individual questions immediately following the seminar. The' seminar wil cover the ýessential elements of starting a small business in- cluding evaluating yourself and your idea, sources of financing, choosing the right location and relevant resource material. Whitby Ambulancè Whitby Ambulance responded to 103 calîs for service during the week ending Feb. 6, among them six emergency calîs for heart related problemas but no calîs for motor vehicle accidents. Twenty-six calîs in- volved transporting patients with a variety of medical problemns and emergency tran- sfers while another 20 were of a non- emergency nature, many transporting patients from one medical facility to another. There were 33 standby calîs for area services including two for the Whitby Fire Depar- tment. The number to caîl for ambulance service in Whitl'w is 723-5232.
