In a tie-breaking vote at the Jan. 13 meeting the chairman voted, No, to Osbawa Larry Corrigan's motion to refer the matter to the program committee. Edie Gomille, a tax- payer, was objecting to the recent presentation by a P ort Perry trapper to students in the out- door club at Witby Senior Public School. She argued that such a presentation was again- st the Ministry of Education guideline: "Moral values sbould permeate ail aspects of the scbool program. " Gomille said the children had been given propaganda for trap- ping. Holding up a leg hold trap she said, "Anyone who says this will not hurt animais is telling alile." She also showed pic- tures of the Coneybear trap. Gomille, who had wanted to present the other side of the question to the students but said she was refused by their teachers, questioned whetber sucb a presentation as the trapper's should have been made at ail. Speaking to Corrigans motion Whitby trustee John Buchanan asked why the board was getting involved. Was it not like anyone else explaining bis job, asked the trustee. Now the latest fiasco is preventing doctors from extra billing.
