Gatn,ý number one was played against Ar- thur with our Tykes coming up with a 5-3 win. Derek Wright scored three goals, with Michael Roland scoring a single goal and Brock Heron, who scored his first career goal. Assists were made by Chris Shannon and Adrian Walendzewicz. The second and final game of the tournament was agaînst the hard hitting Kitchener team, who ended Whitby's chances of playing in the championship round with a score of 3-7. Whitby goalscorers were Jeremy Brown with two goals and Derek Wright with a single goal. In zone play, the Whitby Bantams fared best against the beaches with an overwhelming score of 12-1. Chris Tucker, Adam Foote, Todd Wilson and Jeff Whittle ahl scored two goals each. Single goals were netted by Brian Munro, Julie Kernohan, Paul Hamilton and Troyhann Santos. W.G.A.A. The novice goalscorers were Shaydon Santos with Mehta, Wayne Primeau and Donnie Wilkinson aIl added a single goal each. Assists were made by Matt Sorichetti with two, Rohan Mehta, Mlke Massey and KO.ly Wayling with one each. The Whitby Tykes suf- fered most at the hands a 13-3 decision. Goals were scored by Gavin Prout with two and Derek Wright firing a single. Jon Shetler had the only assist of the game. Quite a reverse situation for the Red- men Tykes was the borough, which saw Whitby as the aggressor with a 15-2 win. The Tykes advanced on the net at every oppor- tunity, Derek Wright found it six imes, Gavini Prout put in four goals, Jeremy Brown had two goals and single goals Power, Michael Rowland and Chris Shannon. Redmen have yet to lose this season The Brooklin Redmen are off to a winning start this year in Ontario Lacrosse Association major junior'A' action. Five games into the season, the Redmen have yet to lose a game and currently leading the league with 10 poin- ts, As of June 3, the Redmen have scored 89 goals, but have only allowed 36 to be scored against them. The Redmen are currently two points ahead of the Peter- borough Petes who have 8 points and a 4-1 record. Their next game is Saturday night in the Luther Vpond Memorial arena when they take on Brampton. That gamne starts at 8 p.m. Meanwhile, the Minto Cup champion Whitby Warriors are two points behind St. Catherines in the O.L.A.'s junior 'A' league. Stairwa ys The Whitby Stairways minor mosquito soccer club made it alI the way to the finals before being knocked out of a Woodbridge, Ont. tour- nament during the June 1 weekend. In the first game, Whitby took on the York Since the start of the season, the Warriors have yet to lose a game but are two points behind having two games in hand over St. Catherines. In eight gamnes, the Warriors have scored 141 goals and allowed only 58. Catherines holds the lead because of its 9-1 record. The Warriors play tonight (June 12) at 8 p.m. at the Iroquois Park Complex when they take on St. Catherines. They will Catherines Friday night and to Etobicoke Sun- day night. Their third game litIle tougher with Thor- nhill controlling the first haîf. However, solid defense kept the haîf scoreless allowing Whitby to open the second period with four quick goals to win. Fin- ding the net for Whitby are Siciliano (2), Robert Albis and Bevan. That win took them to the semi-final match against West MaIl. Whitby came out on top 2-1 after a hard fought Currie wins Seikc By BOB MORRICE The University of Toronto Pool was the site of the first Seiko Cup swim meet, which saw some of the best ten and under swimmers in Canada competing in the two day event June 8 and 9. Several swimmers from the Whitby tended and can be proud of the fact that they qualified for such a prestigious meet. Whitby hosting lacrosse tourney The Whitby Garrard Road Minor Lacrosse Association will host a bantam/midget tour- nament on June 15 and 16. Teams will be coming in from Clarkson, Brampton, Owen Sound, Peterborough, St. Catherines, Kitchener, orangeville, Hamilton and St. Chris/Toronto.
