WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 198 5, WHITBY FREE PRESS L ions "Journey for Sight" wil be held June 2 3 The Whtby Lions Club wlll hold tbeir third animal "Journey for Sight" walk-a-thon on June 23 beginning at 1 p.m. Al proceeds from the walk will be donated to the Canadian National Intitute for the Blind (C.N.I.B.) and other ac- tivities for the visually handicapped. The Lions Club has undertaken several projects recently in support of activities for the vlsually impaired including hosting a surnnier picnlc and Christmas party for the C.N.I.B. as well as sup- porting the Lake St. Joseph holiday camp for the blind, the seeing eye dog school in Oakville and supplymng a meni- ber to the local CXNI.B. Regional Advisory Board. The club alao donated three four-track taiking booka to the Whitby Public Library a few weeka ago. Other community groupa also benefltted from the 1984 walk in- cluding the Whitby Senior Public Sehool Band who received a percentage of the money raiaed to fund their own activities. Band members willl again participate ln the walk-a-thon. Anyone interested in participating in the walk-a-thon can receive pledge forma at the Whitby Public Librar, at the Toronto Dominion Bank in the downtowi core, at the Scarbor Fair at 900 BonacorC Ave, or froni any mem ber of the Lions Club. Their repertory includes a selection of vintage and modern ballads, jazz and pop-rock music. Tickets for the Strawberry Social are $3.50 for adults and $1.50 for children.
