Children 16 years of age and under can enter their pets in various classes inludîng: rab- bits, guinea pigs, cats, the cutest kitten, unusual pets, best dressed pet, gerbies, fish in a small con- tainer, budgies and other birds. Prizes will be given in ail classes. There will also be a grand cham- pion prize for the best overaîl pet. Father John Harrington's 50 years in the priesthood will be held June 23 at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 903 Gifford St., Whitby. OPENING WEEKEND The Pickering Musuem Village will hold its opening weekend and steam-up days on June 8 and 9 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. The facility is a village including homes, barns, a blacksmith shop, hotel, harness shop, church and hall ail located on the banks of Duffin's Creek. There will be demon- strations of old streamn and gas engines, grain threshers, forging, wood splitting and other pioneer crafts. There will also be displays of early farm implements, pioneer clothing and 19th century homes and barns. The village site also boasts a large picnic ground, refreshments, arts and crafts and souvenirs. The Pickering Museum Village is located on Hwy. 7, three kilometres east of Brock Rd.
