Thomas Ferguson, 53, of 705 Dundas St. W., owner of Ferguson Auto Sales of 841 Dundas St. W. was placed on probation for two years by Judge Sam Murphy. As conditions of his probation Ferguson must contribute $2,000 to the Salvation.Army within 30 days. He la also forbidden to operate a car dealership for the next two years and he has been ordered to make restitution in the amount of $16,497.65 to various victims. The dealership's sales manager, Scott Burrill, 32, of 88 Glen St., Oshawya was also con- victed of three counts of fraud of $200. He was fined $150 on each count. A spokesman for the Durham Regional Police Department said that the incidents oc- cured over the last 18 months. The majority of clients were registered in clerical and related; sales; ser- vice; product fabricating; assembling and repairing; con- struction trades; materiai handling and related. During March, the greatest employment opportunities existed in manufacture of fabricated metal products; construction; wholesale and retail trade; business ser- vices; health and social services; food and beverage; personal and household. In March, 19 new trainees started in In- dustrial Training Programs at a cost of $188,M0. These people will benefit from both training and em- ployment in the Region of Durham. At the end of March, there were 227 students in the skill courses sponsored by the Canada Employment Centre and 65 people receiving academic upgrading at DurTIlm College.
