GREETINGS TO ALL May I extend to each and everyone greetings from the Corridor Area of Whitby. This has been a very successful year. The ratepayers' association celebrated its lOth anniversary as a chartered organization this year. Our fal dance was ex- tremely successful and had one of the largest tur- nouts ever. In the past year, the -ratepayers have donated to the Organ Fund of Westminster United Church, Whitby Tigers Running Club, Community Care, Thornton Interested Parents, Heart Fund, Auberge, a shelter for 'women, and Dr. Joseph Ruddy Hospita1 Wihthe help of Whitby Town Coundil and staff, a fence bas been erected along Nichol Ave. parkette. Our thanks to ail the council members for their sup- port of our request. Things have not always been easy, but this year's coundil have bent over backwards to be of assistan- ce. We really appreciate the co-operation. Admission is free and no pre-registration is necessary. BOOK BASH Beginning Jan. 2, the Whitby Public Library will accept registrations for its "Baby Book Bash" program, an eight week program of simple stories, rhymes, songs and activites for children 20 to 35 months old and an accom- panying adult. The program will be held Wednesday mor- nings from Jan. 6 to Mar. 6 in three time periods beginning at 9:45, 10:30 or 11: 15 a.m. This is a limited registration program. BUSINESS The Whitby Public Library will hold a three part seminar for people interested in opening their own business. The program will cover planning, finan- cing,- and developing a small business and will be led by Alex McLeod, management servicers officers of the Oshawa branch of the Federal Business Development Bank. Other topics to be covered include basic record keeping and government aid to assist small business. Pre-registration is necessary and there is a fee of $30 per person payable at the time of registration. Names will be accep- ted beginning Dec. 17. The program will be held Jan. 15, 22 and 29 beéginning at 7 p.m. STORY HOUR The Whitby Public Library will continue to hold its Saturday Story Hour throughout the month of December for children aged 5 to 9 bet- ween 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. No registration is necessary and all sessions this month will have a Christmas or New Year's theme.
