Soccer If not for an outstan- ding effort by their goalkeeper, the 1-nil loss handed to Oshawa Turul by the Whitby Lakes Wailpapers could have been much worse in local minor soccer ac- tion last Thursday. From the opening whistle, Whitby turned on the pressure shooting at the Oshawa net every chance they got. And it wasn't until late in the second hall that Shane Bevan managed to put the bail in the corner of the net after passes from Roberto Albis and Mark Wisdom. Whitby also turned a good defensive perfor- mance after the goal to hold Oshawa off. Tur- ning in the shutout for the local squad was Mark Sholtes.
