OSHAWA 43-116 Durham Centre closing debated tonight A forum to discuss the closure of the Durham Centre for the Developmentally Han- dicapped wiil be held at Denis O'Connor High Sehool, Giffard St., tonight at 7:30 p.m. The Governrnent of Ontario announced some 18 months a plan to close six regional cen- tres for the developmen- tally handicapped in an effort to bring these people- into the com- muty. Scheduled to address the * meeting are representatives of the Ministry of Community and Social Services; the admnistration Of Durham Centre; the On- tario Public Service Pancake weekend to be held by CLOCA The seventh annual pancake weekend is being held by the Cen- tral Lake Ontario Con- servation Authority (CLOCA). at the Purpie Woods Conservation Area. The weekend of April 7 and 8 will feature the selling of pancakes and fresh maple syrup by the Durham A.M. Kiwanis Club at the pic- nie shelter. Maple syrup will also be for sale in bulk for $8.50 per litre and $5.25 per haîf-litre. CLOCA staff will lead free tours of the sugar- bush from 9:20 a. m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can discover Indian, pioneer and modemn methods of producing maple syrup. Tours will begin at the conservation area parking lot every 20 minutes. Community groups wishing to visit the demonstration are asked to contact the CLOCA office to make reservat.ions. Purple Woods Con- servation Area is located north of Oshawa at the southeast corner of Simcoe Street at the lOth Concession Road. For further, infor- mation, contact CLOCA at 579-0411.
