CANADIAN CHRISTMAS PAST Visitors to the Whitby Museum this Christmas will experience Christ- mas as a Canadian family would have ex- perienced it in the 1800's. Cedar boughs decorate the mantle and doorways of the Parlour and the Sitting Room has a Christmas tree trimmed with candles, popcorn and candy filled cornucopias. Un- derneath the tree is a collection of favourite playthings of generations past. Visitors can stand beneath the Kissing Ball, look at displays of toys and Christmas greeting cards as well as share a taste of Christmas past - hot ap- ple cider and plum pud- ding, made by school classes during their museum visits. Visitors can experien- ce Canadian Christmas Past at the Whitby Museum on Dec. 17 and 18, 1 to 5 p.m. and on Dec. 19 and 20, 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free but visitors will be asked for small donations. NEWYEAR'S DANCE The Canadian Scottish Club of Whitby will be holding its annual New Year's Eve Dance at the Masonic Hall, Cochrane St., Whitby. The dance, held Dec. 31, will begin at 8 p.m. and run through until 1 a.m. There will be a buf- fet and bar, with prizes and novelties. For tickets and more infor- mation call668-4134. ROCK AND MINERAL CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY The Oshawa Rock and Mineral Club will hold a Christmas Party on Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial United Church, corner of Bond and Rosehill Sts. Mr. John Pratt will show slides of his trip to China. Mr. Jack Kauf- fman will continue the series on Crystallography. Everyone is welcome to attend.
