Telepac, or "'Telephone-related employee and (Ministry) program access system" is a comn- puterized system designed to provide Instant access to current telephone numbers, employees' namnes and organizational information. But what does that mean to you? One of the first steps In providing Information to Ontarians was the introduction of the "1blue pages" in ail telephone directories in use in this province. Key issues and general enquiry numbers are now provided to facilitate contacting a number of gover- nment officiais (municipal, provincial and federai). But the Ontario Government bas taken this initiative one step further, and has compiled the key information in a central unit - Telepac. Through Teiepac, this information is provlded to those people who are responding first to your enquiries. Telepac technology will be utiiized by our Queen's Park Switchboard, Citizens' Enquiry Bureau, and Access Ontario, to provide up-to-date information to improve the quaiity and speed of customer service. Quite simply ... Telepac is Ontario government Information now. Information contained in the Teiepac system in- cludes over 6,000 organizational units ioeated across the province; a brief outline of the programs of each ministry and their divisions; hundreda of index en- tries containing one or more keywords reiating to a specific service and indicating the government of- fice which is providing the service; over 38,000 em- ployees of the provincial government. Today's technoiogy - Telepac - providing the an- swers ... who's who, who's where and what's what in the Ontario Government. v.erry Emm, Regional Councillor takes bis heart rate at cerdrmonies of Durhamn Save-a-Heart Week.
