The rollerskating team, who have reigned as Canadas champions for 4 years, have been dazzling audiences with their precision and style. Croucli, a resident of Whitby began his ar- duous climb to excellen- ce il years ago when he, as a way to spend an af- --ternoon,, thought he would "give it a try."' Crouch found the sport relatively easy to master and went back the next week to sign up for his first fundamental lesson. One month later he enrolled in private lessons. Crouch and McCumber must seek private sponsorship in an attempt to ralse 75 percent of the funds needed. Croucli and McCum- ber. currently work to' pay for the instruction, (ice pro at $32 an hour and instruction at $20 US hourly) that they receive. But for the two, their ambitions will carry them through. The ultùmate goal for this skating duet is to win a mnedal in the 1988 Olympics and give Canada its first medal for rollerskating. Croucli and McCum- ber have been training bard together for four years to try to reach their goal. Crouch says they work together at developin their skills, not tzrig, to out do each other.
