At a press conference last Thursday, Mayor Bob Attersley unveiled, plans for the firat resi- dential estate subdivi- sion in Whitby, to be located slightly nortb west of Brooklin. Cedarbrook Trail Es- tates, consisting of for- ty-six acres, is aimed at offermng executive-type housing. for senior offi- ciais of incoming and, established industries within the area. "It's a very promot- able item, " said Atter- sley. "It wiil be easier to attract industrial developers to Whitby."Y The development, to be divided into 10 estate lots, is owned by Mrs. Ruth Dryden, wife of John Dryden, former reeve of the township of Whitby. The lots, ranging in size from 3% acres to 5 acres, will 'sel for. $70,OO( cash or $75,00 with terms. This price does not include the house. It will be custom built by the new owner of the property. Mr. Dryden dlaims that they are looking for certain types of people to live on the lots. "We're trying to get the type of people wbo like rural living," he said. "We want to retain the rural charin that is there." There are no existing services on the lots so the buyers will be ex- pected to use wells and septic tanks. Mr.( Dryden does flot believe that this wil cause a problem. "The ares bas been researched by engineer- ing studies, " he said. "There is adequate water, good drainage, and good soil. " .The Dryden's will con- tinue to live on the land and this boosts Atter- sley's confidence even more as to the develop- ment's chances of suc- cess. "We fe]l they certain- ly want to complement wbat they bave," he said. "It's not like a developer coming in from the outside. They bave an interest in the properties because it en- bhances their own invest- ment." He further estimated that the properties would bave a market value of $250,000 when finished. Mrs. Dryden was also confident that the development - would prove to be a success. IlWe hope this first development of its kind wiil not only be an asset to the town but wilI be helpful in creative and quality growth in the Brooklin ares," she said. The acreage consists of a slightly rolling height of Lynde Creek and adjacent te country homes already' esta- blighed on Cedarbrook Trail. It is nestled be- tween the densely wooded cedar* valleys containing the streams. SAccording to aý press release by the town, the development wii meet a, portion of the demands in the grow;th of the town as 22 companies re- located in Whitby in 1962 and'more are expected this year. The area has access to the provincial and reglonal highway systems. eomhplete school bus transporta- tion and shopping facili- ties are in close proxi- mity. Sales of the lots are being bandled by How- ard Forder Ltd., a Port Perry real estate company. Licence s ticker renewal time TORONTO It's not P'ebrtuy but It islieM- ence sticker renewal time again for those vehicle owners whose birthday is in June. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications re- minds vehicle owners that those with birth- days between June 1 and Dec. 31, must renew thefr stlckers for a second time in 1983 to bring them into the yearly renewal cycle. Reminders of renewal date bave been mailed te vehicle owners on record; however, it is anticipated some may be missed. While the ministry bas been working around the dlock to clear up a backlog of in- formation that resulted from the introduction of a new system and computers, it is possible that some vehidle own- -ers with early June re- newal dates are not yet on the computer file and would not be mailed this reminder notice. TrefWore, ail vebicle owners are advised that, whether or not they receive their re- minders te renew, they must bave their new stickers on their vehicles on or before their biday in 1983. Cost of renewal stick- ers for ail vehicles with passenger car platès là $48 per year.
