Markborough Proper- ties, the company whicb bas proposed the buge development and' will undertake its construc- tion, says the $225 million project will crate up te 4,500 jobs and generate about $3 million in tax revenue for the town. Representatives of Markborougb appeared before the town's. ad- ministrative committee last week to discuss details of the project and report on the pro- gress of the proposed development. The town's planning department bas intro- duced modifications to the original proposaI wbicb include- fewer acres devoted te com- mercial space, the crea- tien of recreational faci- lities to enbance. the residential area and possible construction of a library or theatre arts centre. Markborough bas pro- mised between 350,000 and 585,000 square feet of new office space, 800 square feet of commer- cial, space and about 70,000 square feet of in- stitutional space on the site. The residential por- tion of the development would include about 100 acres of land to bouse approximately 6,000 people. The town's planning director,*Bob Short, pre- dicts the entire develop- ment wiil take 20 to 25 years to complete. Short says the town is developing land use policies for the area to govern development.
