Chris Brady Neil Blake on lacrosse action in Whitby Because of the grow- ing popularity of lacrosse in the province, especiaily in the Whitby area, the Whitby- Garrard Road Lacrosse Club has received in- quiries from several girls that wish to play Box Lacrosse on an ail- girl team. Two possibilities exist this year. One is a mid- get team for girls ages 15 and 16, born in the years 1967 and 1968. It appears at this time that a league might be for- med for an exhibition season with one tourna- ment and a champion- ship tournament at the end of the season. The second alternative is a girls team aged 16 to 21 to play in a well esta- blished girls league - The Golden Horseshoe' League. We are trying to mea- sur the level of interest in Girls Box Lacrosse in this area. Girls from Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering and surrounding area who are interested in playing this great game should contact Eric Pitters at 668-1326. And a reminder for al the Junior 'B' players and goalies who want to play on the 1983 Whitby team to get in touch with Bud Kernohan at 728- 3290 as soon as possible. Bud would also like to hear from everyone who could coach the Junior 'B' team. -By TOM FRANK The Whitby-Garrard Road Minor Lacrosse Association wishes to thank the Whitby public for their response and support for the Lacrosse Sehool. Over 50 boys and girls have registered for the pre-season skills school. This shows that interest in the sport is tremnen- dous this year and gain- ing momentuni. Novices born 1972, 1974 are attending Kath- leen Rowe Memorial School at 1125 'Athol Street. The Peewees born 1971, 1972 are at- tending E.A. Fairman School at the corner of Walnut and Palace Streets. AUl sessions are Mon- day evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the cost for the 10 sessions is $20. Please call Eric Pitters at 668-1326 for further information. Anyone wishing to be a coach or manager or trainer of any of this year's minor teams should contact Pete Burns at 668-4688. Regis- tration dates for the minor teams have been set tentatively for Mar- ch 26 and April 2 at Iro- quois Park. Brooki on a rol The Brooklin Whitby Minor Hockey Associa- tion Major Bantam Representative "A"t team have been on a winning streak since Christmas.
