According te, the Dur- hami Regienal Police Force, Chad Sorichet ti, 2, of 402 Walnut Street was discovered by another children living in the neighbourhoed. Police said that the in- fant's mether, Shelly Sorichetti, gave hlm mouth te mouth rescusi- tation. He was taken te, the Dr. J.O. Her fainily physician, Dr. Christepher Hall, testlfied that the young woman was admlitted te WPH last February af- ter -being treated for ingesting hydrogen perexide at the emer- gency Ward of tbe when Daniel first came te hlm as a patient in 1978 she was in goed health, however, two years later she began to suffer bouts Of depression. He said that Daniel was worried net only about poor academic performance at school but aise about her fgther's unempleyment. Daniel, graduated from high school an On- tario Scholar. In, the fal of 1980, she entered Queen's Univer- sity but soon lef t be- cause she could not cope with the 'pressure and was subsequently hos- pitalized, Hall said. The jury was told.that Daniel was brought back te Oshawa and when Hall saw her in Nevember, 1980 she had not ixnproved. The 'docter aise teld the coroner that Daniel was twice admitted te the Oshawa General Hospital in 1980 'for psychiatric treatment. Then on December 16, 1980, she was treated fer an overdose of Tylenol tablets, Hall centinued adding that she was adrnitted te the WPH a week later at her ewn'- request. He added that by raid- 1981 he feit she- was ceping' better with stress. Daniel was accepted for study at. the Uni- versity ef Toronto that fail but durlng a trip te the United Kingdem in August she again began to experience some sort of problem. Upon ber return to Oshawa she was again ,admitted te the Oshawa General Hospital -and Hall said that she was flot only confused but had episedes where she lest touch with reality. That December, she again tried te commit suicide by taking an overdose-of Tylenol. After being treated for taking hydrogen peroxide on January 31, 1982 she was admitted as an involuntar pat- ient at the WPH. Coroner Dr. Denis Gabrielle- was told by, June Kozlenko, a WPH registered nursing assistant working on Daniel's ward, that she appeared happy te at- tend the industrial therapy pregram the day she cisappeared. Daniel was released for the prograni at about 12:35 p.m. se that she could take the eight te ten minute walk te the werkshop. The jury was teld Daniel was unescerted because the industrial Oshawa General Hos- pi tal. The two women, three men on the coroner's jury were aise told that Daniel left her own ward on March 15, unes- corted, te take part in an industrial therapy work- shep on anether part of the grounds. At about 10: 30 a.m. on Sunday, April 4 ber, body was feund lying face down covered partially by sand on the beach of Lake Ontario in the Lynde Shores Conser- vation Area. Eric Mayne of the Durham Regional Po- lice Force teld the in- quest that after being called in by Daniel's parents on March 17, a cempehenivesearch of the grounds 'and ad- jolning properties was conducted. Af ter these attempts failed, an OPP helicop- ter was broûgbt ini from Bramppton on March 18 for another six-hour search. 1Mayne aise said. that police officers were assigned to wallc along a two-kilometre stretch of the lakeshore dailytintil March 27. He also testifled that during 1981, 150 patients of the WPH were report- _ed mlssing. So far in 1982, 79 have been reported mlsslng. The inquest continues today.
