In a report to Whitby Town Council's opera- tions committee, the total bill will rise by $72.50 in 1982 to $1,078. Last year,.the total was> $1,005.50. These figures are for the urban area, of the town and for homes with an assessed value of $51000.'> The biggest'chunk of the bill will go to the Durham Board of Edu- cation who will receive' $519 this year as op-ý posed to $471 last year. The board also imposed the biggest share. of the increase, accounting for $48. The Town of Whitby itself will receive $369 of the total tax bill which is $16 more than in 1981. 1The Region o0'f Dur- ham imposed an $8.50 increase bringing its share of the tax bill to $190.1, Whitby residents liv- ing in the rural areas will pay -the same amount of tax to both the region. and the school board' but will pay $355.25 to the town, an $8.50 increase.
